Text Messages is the first multi-genre collection by Montreal-based Iraqi hip-hop artist, activist, and professor Yassin "Narcy" Alsalman. Composed entirely on a smartphone during air travel and married to artwork from comrades, Narcy 's writing speaks of the existential crises experienced by diasporic children of war before and during imperialism in the age of the Internet.
Diatribe of a Dying Tribe is about the jumbled reality of North American life. The destructive components of juxtaposing cultures, the birth of immigrant internationality and the resilient art that comes out of struggle and oppression. Serving as Yassin's thesis and testimonial of his first decade as a formative Iraqi MC out of North America, Diatribes is the first of its kind and a unique collectors item alongside the free collaborative album “Fear of an Arab Planet'“ by NARCY, Offendum, Ragtop and Excentrik.
